Welcome to another trick by Sahaj. One of the biggest complaint about Windows 8 is that it boots straight to the start screen. The 'Start8' utility helps you avoid this indignity, but you can actually boot straight to the desktop without installing anything extra.
Follow the steps below to Boot directly to desktop: -
1. Go to start screen and type in "schedule" without quotes to search for Schedule Task in Settings.
2. Click on Task Scheduler Library to the left, and select Create Task.
3. Name your task something like 'Boot to desktop'.
4. Now select the Trigger tab, choose New, and use the drop-down box to select starting the task 'At log on'.
5. Click OK and go to the Actions tab, choose New, and enter 'explorer' for the Program/Script value.
6. Press OK, save the task and restart your computer.
